Exact measurements of sound fields and of ultrasound-induced cavitation is essential to understand the interaction of HIFU with tissue and materials. In our laboratory, we have several measurement setups to characterize the sound field with a 3D scanning hydrophone, a boyancy balance and a "Schlieren optic" system.
